Design Premise

Memory of Khobar transforms the city's collective memory into a contemporary public space. Inspired by the historic street grid of northern Al Khobar and its relationship with the waterfront, the project creates an urban landmark that invites visitors to experience Al Khobar's history while engaging with its contemporary identity.

Environmental Strategy

Responding to Al Khobar's waterfront setting, the design creates an open and accessible public realm that balances movement, gathering, and landscape. Shaded seating, integrated planting, and clear pedestrian connections improve comfort throughout the year, while framed views reinforce the relationship between the city and the sea.

Material & Light

A restrained palette of concrete, metal, and landscape creates a durable civic environment that complements the waterfront. Perforated panels filter light and reveal layered graphics inspired by the city's history, allowing daylight, shadow, and movement to become part of the visitor's experience.
